Every year, it’s always the same but it’s never boring. Buckeye Elementary held it’s annual Thanksgiving luncheon for students and staff on Tuesday, providing the staples of every dinner: mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, and of course the big bird, complete with stuffing. Students helped prep some of the food by cutting up some of the celery and onions for the stuffing. Placed in the trusty hands of former principal Dennis Niederhiser and his crew, the feast is then created for all to enjoy. Even some of the teachers got to partake in the eating.

In addition to the Thanksgiving preview for lunch, students were tasked with recreating their favorite books that they have read this year into floats, in honor of the New York Macy’s Thanksgiving day parade held every year. Some built castles, others had dinosaurs, even more had princesses, but every float told a story and touched the heart of a student enough to memorialize them for the parade held after lunch.

Salem City Schools would like to give a huge thank you to all the parents and guardians who helped out with donations for the feast and lent a helping hand in serving all our students.
