Dear Quaker Families,
Our community is approaching the upcoming school year facing unprecedented challenges. Please know that we are giving careful consideration to the safety of our students, families, staff, and the community in determining what is in the best educational interest of our students. As we prepare our plan to open Salem City Schools, we are utilizing: state/local/county Health Department guidelines, Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommendations, the Ohio Department of Education restart guidelines, the governor’s recommendations, and the American Academy of Pediatrics recommendations. Input from stakeholders including faculty, staff, parents, and community members is also being used to meet the needs of all Salem students.
The plan that is being developed will allow each family to send their student(s) back to the building, full-time, in the fall or to access learning remotely from home. We understand that families need options that will address their concerns for safety and learning, because each student is unique and may have different needs and circumstances. The district will continue to carefully monitor any changes in the Ohio COVID-19 Risk Level designation, and will comply with any escalating orders. This includes masking mandates and possible resumption of online learning for all during periods of high risk.
Whether your family chooses in-person or online learning, your student(s) will remain a part of the Quaker Family, and we will continue to support their development through access to high quality education, extra-curricular activities, meals, and social emotional support. Please see the links below to view a more detailed description of the two available learning options and to register your student(s) for one. To aid us in planning for a successful school year, please complete the registration by July 28, 2020. We will relay additional information regarding your chosen learning platform once we have accurate student numbers.
