Reilly Read 180 students have been reading a workshop entitled, “Bullies Beware.” We have learned about the different kinds of bullying, why kids bully, and what we can do about it. Most students know to find an adult for help. Among those trusted adults are police officers. As a career focus, the book talked about a police officer in Florida, but we also learned about the Salem Police Department.
Reilly Read 180 students wrote about the challenges police officers face doing their jobs. These letters were delivered to the Salem Police Department April 21st along with the “Police Officer’s Survival Kit” treat bags the students made for each officer. Reilly Read 180 helped the Salem Police Department get their own K9 unit by purchasing “I Support Salem PD K9” t-shirts. Students were excited to wear these shirts on their field trip to show their support of our local heroes.
