Applesauce Day to celebrate Johnny Appleseed’s birthday is a favorite every year in first grade. Students help peel the apples, then the teachers cut the apples up and put them into slow cookers. At the end of the day, each student gets to taste the “fruits” of their labor.
Students were “getting the wiggles out” in Mrs. Arnoto’s class.
Salem City Schools is a 1-to-1 district, meaning we have either a Chromebook or an iPad for each student. Second-grade students at Buckeye get to start learning how to type on their Chromebooks in Mrs. Mowery and Mrs. Slopek’s class while the first graders in Mrs. Hochadel’s work on their iPads.
Even though we are 1-to-1, nothing beats getting into a good physical book.
Mrs. Westbrook’s class is learning how to write, and working on C’s. C does stand cookie after all!
