Birthdays are a big deal to most and Dr. Seuss’s is celebrated in schools across the nation. Since he has been the supplier of many smiles and memories over the years, a week worth of fun and funny theme days in his honor seem worthy. Buckeye Elementary did just that with Read Across America week this past week.

All Buckeye Elementary classes participated in the celebration with theme days throughout the week, and read corresponding books in class written by Dr. Seuss. Monday started out with a bang for Pajama Day, and classes later read Dr. Seuss’s “Sleep Book”. Tuesday was Crazy Sock Day accompanied by “Fox in Socks”. Wacky Wednesday involved everyone wearing their wackiest outfits while reading the book “Wacky Wednesday”. Thursday was hat day, so naturally “The Cat in the Hat” was the book on the schedule. Friday closed out the week with Dress Up Like What You Want To Be When You Grow Up paired with “Oh, The Places You’ll Go”.

The entire week was filled with tons of fun and learning, just like Dr. Seuss would have wanted. Salem City Schools would like to thank all the administration, teachers, and parents who helped “Read Across America” week possible. You can find all of our pictures from the entire week on our Facebook page under albums.
